Motion To Create 48-96 Committee

Overview: Supporters of the 48/96 schedule created a website to disseminate information regarding the alternate shift schedule and survey the membership for possible support. The website contains numerous studies and informational packets. The website has been operational for a number of months and has created a good forum for discussion. It is clearly evident that many Local #672 members are interested in a “trial” 48/96 period. I therefore would like to make the following motion :
MOTION - “A 48/96 Committee be created. The Committee will be charged with constructing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to implement the 48/96 schedule on a trial basis. The Committee will work with Fire Administration and City Leaders during this process. The Committee will make every attempt to have a completed MOU on or before 16 August, 2004. The MOU will be posted for a minimum of 30 days. Following the posting, the MOU will be presented to Local #672 membership for a ratification vote. If the Committee encounters unforeseen complications and feels that pursuing this MOU is no longer in the best interest of Local #672 members, it may discontinue the creation of the MOU and sunset the Committee. The Committee Chairman will be Perry Oldenburg. The Committee will include members of Local #672 Executive Board and members at large.”
